Colors under a gray sky

As I look around me for new inspiration to put on canvas, I find myself in awe of the colors that pop out during a rainy couple of days on the coastline of Northern California. As I sit at my easel I see fir trees, dancing in the wind, bark soaked with rain. That green in their branches takes on a whole new look when put against a gray sky. The purple lupines growing among the grassy greens on my favorite sea stack look so beautiful together. Add a gray sky background and I'm in awe.
